A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended four initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
